When machining softer metals, such as aluminum, the threads in the components can easily become worn out – especially if they are subjected to frequent disassembly or high loads. That is why at Åre Produktion we offer professional assembly of insert threads, also called Helicoil threads, which ensure a strong and durable threaded connection.
Insert threads for increased durability in soft materials
An insert thread is a spirally wound metal wire that is inserted into a pre-drilled and tapped hole to create a durable thread with very high wear resistance. It is a common choice when working with aluminum components, where the original thread is otherwise at risk of fraying or breaking.
